Over the years I've been amused and shocked by some of the terminology used by carriers. I was recently introduced to a new one by a steamship line who informed us of a 'UTL Hold' on a FCL shipment. The average tenure of people in the business in our office is 17.5 years. Nobody knew what this meant. We asked the carrier and they defined UTL as "Unable to Locate"!
Please let me know of other inane carrier terminology for my collection.
